Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE (HHW) COLLECTION EVENT Saturday, December 19. 2020, 9 AM to 3 PM, Rain or Shine Location: Lomita City Hall Parking Lot - 24300 Narbonne Avenue, Lomita, CA 90717 Entrance to the event is off Narbonne Avenue not 242nd Street. It is the driveway on the south side of the LA County Building in the City of Lomita/LA County facility. Sponsored jointly by the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts and the Department of Public Works. The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Program gives Los Angeles County residents a legal and cost free way to dispose of unwanted household chemicals that cannot be disposed of in the regular trash. THINGS WE WANT YOU TO BRING... Motor Oil, Antifreeze, Paint, Paint Thinner. Turpentine, Cleaners with Acids or Lye. Pesticides and Herbicides. Household and Car Batteries. Old Computers and Television Sets. Sharps or Used Needles. Expired Pharmaceuticals and Mercury Thermometers. THINGS WE DON'T WANT YOU TO BRING... Explosives, Ammunition or Radioactive materials. Waste from Businesses will NOT be accepted. Trash or Old Tires. White Goods such as Washers, Stoves, Refrigerators or Air Conditioners. HOW TO PREPARE... In general there is a limit of 15 gallons or 125 lbs. per vehicle. Bring items in a sturdy box, preferably in their original labeled containers. Be prepared to leave your containers. This report is for Sunday, July 11, 2021 through Saturday, July 17, 2021. 45 incidents reported in the City of Torrance Crime Log at: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/67336/637625553607530000 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 3 in Torrance. 1 each in Southeast Torrance, Old Torrance and the Hillside area. Southeast Torrance 7 12 5PM 2400 Block 235th Place Suspect entered open garage, entered residence via open access door, fled when resident yelled at him. No property loss Old Torrance 7 12 1AM 800 Block Portola Ave Suspected entered residence via unlocked door and fled when victim woke up in the bedroom. Hillside 7 16 2:44AM 2500 Ridgeland Rd Glass Panel removed to unlock door for entry, Suspects fled when victim awoke, screamed and chased them out of the residence.
