Weekly Crime Report for Southeast Torrance

This report is for Sunday, January 18, 2015 through Saturday, January 24, 2015   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 7 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. 2 in North Torrance and 1 each in the Hillside, Madrona, Old Torrance, Marble Estates and Victor Park areas.  The house in Old Torrance was tented for fumigation.   AUTO BURGLARIES There were 13 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   AUTO THEFT There were 8 in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance.   SCAMS Suspects posed as US Immigration employees, telephoned a Torrance resident and convinced victim to pay penalty using green dot and reload it cards.   CATALYTIC CONVERTERS 3 incidents of catalytic converters being stolen from vehicles were reported.   This report is for Sunday, January 11, 2015 through Saturday, January 17, 2015.   RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 5 in Torrance. 1 each in Southeast Torrance, Southwood, Southwood Riviera, Hollywood Riviera and Old Torrance.   SE Torrance Friday, January 16th  1PM – 5:35PM  2000 Block 237th Street (Cabrillo) Screen from window next to front door removed, pedestrian door to garage forced open and interior door forced open for entry.  House ransacked and safe opened.  Handgun and watches stolen.   In the Southwood incident, a window was pried open for entry and the suspect fled when confronted by the victim’s dog.  The Riviera incident involved a unsecured residence under construction and tools were taken.   AUTO BURGLARY There were 11 reports in Torrance and none in Southeast Torrance. This report is for Sunday, December 21, 2014 through Saturday, December 27, 2014. RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES There were 9 in Torrance.  1 in Southeast Torrance, 1 in West Torrance, 1 on Plaza Del Amo west of Crenshaw Blvd and 6 in North Torrance. December 26th, 1PM to 4PM, 24000 Block Huber Avenue Suspect pried open kitchen window for entry.  Ransacked and took cash, coins and jewelry. AUTO BURGLARY There vwere 7 reported and none in Southeast Torrance. AUTO THEFT There were 5 in Torrance including one in Southeast Torrance. December 24th, 1PM, 2000 Block 233rd St  Stolen 2005 GMC Yukon   THEFT Vehicle Catalytic Converter stolen December 23rd, 3 AM to 3:30 AM, 2200 Block 233rd Street FORCED OPENING OF MAILBOXES There were 22 reports of mail boxes being forced open and mail taken in the 2700 Block of 235th Street (Elm to Juniper) during the morning of December 26th.  This a high density residential area of apartments, town homes, etc.
